The data of subway construction accidents in China from 2002 to March, 2016 are presented in order to analyze the regularity of these accidents from the perspective of years, months, hours, accident types, construction methods, locations, numbers of deaths and so on. The results show that the total number of accidents is on the rise, but deaths per kilometer gradually decline. Most construction accidents occurred frequently in January, May, July and November every year and during 0:00-1:00, 8:00-11:00 and 15:00-18:00 every day. Collapse is the most common accident type, occupies 43%; Open cut method accounts for 31% of subway construction accidents, and shield method 62% of section construction. Fire and explosion often took place during section constructions while seldom happened during station constructions. Finally, according to the regularity, some countermeasures and the suggestions of subway construction safety are put forward considering the characteristics of Yangtze River Delta region from the three aspects of technology, management and policy.
